Ruth White Lythgoe was one of George's sisters.

She married Olaf Soestres Jespersen (of Huntsville, Utah) on 15 Dec 1915 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Thus, she became Ruth White Lythgoe Jespersen.

Hannah Eliza Lythgoe Chapman French, 86, died April 29, 1979.

Born Nov. 17, 1892, Salt Lake City, to John and Hannah White Lythgoe.  Married Ray Chapman in 1914, in Salt Lake City.  Divorced.  He died in 1966.  Married Earl French in 1971 in Salt Lake City.  He died in 1975.

Survivors: son, Wesley R. Chapman, Salt Lake City; daughter, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Brown, Highland, Ind.; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; brothers, John E. Lythgoe, Randlett, Utah; George Lythgoe, Heber City, Utah; sister Mrs. Bill (Faye) Gunnell, Layton.

Funeral services Wednesday, 1 p.m., at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where friends may call one hour prior to services.  Burial Taylorsville Cemetery.

Storm Plays Pranks Through Utah

The storm which threatened Salt Lake Sunday and in its fury carried a cloudburst and one of the most severe electrical disturbances in history to the southern portion of the county, killing one and injuring another, completely dissipated itself Monday morning here in a magnificent torrential rain, which flooded streets and paralyzed business for the time.

While irrigating on the Bristol farm near the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon Sunday afternoon, Olaf S. Jesperson, 32, formerly of Malta, Ida., was struck and instantly killed by lightning.

Mr. Jesperson came to Utah about three months ago and engaged in farming and mercantile business.  He was 32 years of age and is survived by his widow and two children, Lee L., and an infant two months old.  The body was taken to the Eddington mortuary.

She married Golden S. Hammer (of Brigham City, UT) on 16 Sept 1935 in Burley, Idaho.

Thus, she became Bonita Mae Jardine Hammer (or Bonnie Hammer).

Nellie Faye Lythgoe Gunnell, 1905-2004

Nellie Faye Lythgoe Gunnell, 98, passed away on August 23, 2004 at the Chandler Healthcare Center in Chandler, AZ.

She was born Nov. 3, 1905 in Salt Lake City, UT to John Thomas and Hannah White Lythgoe.  She was married to William Bailey Gunnell Dec. 17, 1924 in Salt Lake LDS Temple.  The couple lived for a time in Naf, Idaho then moved to Strevell, ID where they operated a gas station and small cafe for many years.  Faye's cooking was known far and wide, and many travelers stopped at their place to partake of delicious food.  Faye was also a Justice of the Peace for the State of Idaho Port of Entry.  Bill, as her husband was known, had a government contract as a rural mail carrier, and was also caretaker of the emergency landing field at Strevell.

Two children were born to them, William LeRoy Gunnell, and Loa Gayle Gunnell, who survive.  Preceding her in death were her husband, three sisters and three brothers.  She is survived by daughter-in-law, Marjorie Alice Gunnell; three grandchildren, Marcia G. Madsen, Darla G. Klovski and William Steven Gunnell.  Faye is also survived by five great-grandsons, James Roy Gunnell, Ethan Winn Gunnell, Charles William Madsen, Peter Christopher Madsen and Matthew Geoffrey Madsen.

Fay had a love of life reflected in her cheerful attitude and willingness to help those who needed it.  Her grandchildren held her in especially high esteem, and know she was a fun grandma.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., Lindquist Mortuary, Odgen, UT.  Interment will follow in Washington Heights Cemetery.

Born Sept. 13, 1910, Salt Lake City, a son of John Thomas and Hannah White Lythgoe.  Married Maxine Perkins Aug. 27, 1931, Salt Lake City.  Landscaper and poultry raiser.  Member, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 

Survivors: widow; sons, daughter, John Allen, Donald Douglas, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Dial, all Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren; brothers, sisters, John E., Clearfield; George, Myton, Duchesne County; Mrs. Mary Porschatis, Mrs. Lyle French, both Salt Lake City; Mrs. Fay Gunnell, Strevell, Idaho.

Funeral Friday, 1 p.m., 2128 S. State, where friends call Thursday, 6-8 p.m., Friday before services. Burial, Elysian Burial Gardens.
